Judy Martino is in her fourth season as a head coach in the Women's Professional Softball League. Martino is coach of the new Gold squad, actually the 2000 Olympic team, after one season with the Ohio Pride and Durham Dragons, and two earlier seasons with the Carolina Diamonds. Martino's debut in the league came with a victory in the inaugural WPSL All-Star game with eight of her Diamond players. In 1998 she coached the Diamonds to the WPSL Championship.

Martino is founder and Hall of Fame member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Assn. and served as executive director for five years. She also was one of the first memof the NCAA Softball Committee and helped start the All-America, National and Regional Coach of the Year programs.

Between 1978 and 1981, Martino coached the University of South Carolina Softball and Volleyball teams. During those years her softball team ranked in the top 12 every year, ranked number one on fhe East coast, and made two national softball tournament appearances.

While attending graduate school at the University of North Carolina, Martino was the assistant volleyball and softball coach. She was also voted ACC Coach of the Year four times.

During her days as a softball player, Martino spent 14 years on ASA Women's Major League National Tournament teams. She also played professionally for the 1976 world champion Connecticut Falcons. Martino holds a bachelor's degree from Northeastern and a master's degree from North Carolina.
